New art centre in Coseano

Coseano (UD)

Renders: ELASTICOFarm

The Diffuse Art Gallery of the Coseano Art Award was conceived to provide a permanent home for the artworks acquired over the twenty-four editions of the international art competition that each year transforms the town of Coseano into an open-air gallery.

The project involves the redevelopment and partial demolition of the area behind the Town Hall, creating a new public square that reconnects the municipal building with Piazza degli Artisti. Within this renewed urban space stands a new lightweight steel and ceramic volume, designed to host the permanent art collection and the town council chamber.

The architectural concept interprets the idea of a “diffuse gallery” as an open and accessible path, where visitors can freely move along elevated walkways and ramps, surrounded by light and transparency. The building engages in a continuous dialogue with the surrounding public space, allowing glimpses of the artworks from outside.

Designed with a focus on sustainability, the structure integrates high-efficiency HVAC systems, photovoltaic panels, and energy recovery technologies, minimizing maintenance needs and environmental impact.

Beyond its architectural value, the project represents a broader urban and cultural regeneration of Coseano’s historic center, transforming it into a vibrant civic landmark and a shared place of community identity.
